Athletic Coaches. 1 In addition to meeting the Required Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California
Athletic Coaches. (a) A Full-Time Instructor who has an athletic coaching assignment will be provided additional compensation. An athletic coach may choose one of the following options applicable to each coaching assignment:
Option 1: Fifty percent (50%) assigned time applicable to coaching duties.
Option 2: Thirty percent (30%) assigned time applicable to coaching duties plus a stipend per week, as set forth in Xxxxxxxx X-0, for services rendered during the scheduled coaching season of the sport he/she is coaching. A Faculty Member assigned to coach both men and women teams in the same sport where practice times and meet schedules are usually performed jointly will receive a single stipend per week, as set forth in Xxxxxxxx X-0, for coaching both teams. The assigned time shall include the class credit for that sport.
(b) A Full-Time Faculty Member assigned as an Assistant Coach to coach both men and women's teams in the same sport where practice times and meet schedules are usually performed jointly will receive one half of the head coach's stipend per sport and fifteen percent (15%) release time per sport.
(c) The Head Football Coach will receive an additional stipend of ten percent (10%) of that athletic coach's contract salary. The stipend will be paid at the next pay period following the end of the season in which the coaching assignment is completed.
(d) The Xxxx of Health Sciences and Athletics, after consulting with the concerned athletic coach, will determine the coaching session and the schedule of coaching sessions for each sport.
(e) The District may employ part-time coaches, in which event the District will compensate any such part-time coach, as set forth in Xxxxxxxx X-0, for each week that the coach is assigned to perform such services. Partial weeks at the beginning and end of the season shall be compensated on a pro rata basis. A part-time Head Coach designated as Instructor of Record for intercollegiate athletic classes will be compensated as provided by Section 9(a) of this Article based on two (2) class hours for each one (1) credit unit scheduled. Athletic Coaches. Hereinafter singularly designated as Department Chair and the academic unit as the Department.
Section 2. The terms "Faculty," "members of the Faculty" and "Faculty members" whenever used in the Agreement are defined to include only those Faculty members who are included in the bargaining unit pursuant to Section 1 of this Article.
Section 3. The University will deduct dues in amounts specified by the Association from the pay of members of the Faculty upon receipt of individually-signed authorizations on a form which has been agreed upon by the University and the Association. If a Faculty member has revoked membership in the Association, the Association will promptly notify the University.
Section 4. The University's obligation to make deductions for membership dues shall terminate automatically upon termination of employment.
Section 5. The Association agrees that it will indemnify and hold the University harmless from any and all claims, damages, actions, or suits of any nature arising out of, related to, or in any way connected with the enforcement or application of this Article.
Athletic Coaches. A. Any coach who is hired for three (3) consecutive one-year terms is thereafter, if rehired, to be given a contract of three (3) years duration. However, if a new head coach is hired during the term of an assistant coach's contract, the Committee has the option to rescind that contract. This provision does not apply to contracts existing prior to September 1, l975.
B. A coach shall be notified in writing if they are not recommended for reappointment or re-appointed to his/her position.
C. No assistant coach shall be hired or discharged unless there has been previous consultation with the head coach of the sport involved.
D. A study committee made up of two (2) coaches, two (2) administrators, the athletic director, and the President(s) of the Association, or their designee, shall examine the report on the current manner of compensation and recommend changes.
E. Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, including Article 1, no coach or assistant coach shall be an employee of the Association solely by virtue of such position. In order to be a employee of the Association, and be entitled to the benefits of this Agreement, a coach or assistant coach also must be an employee of another category identified in Article 1.

The University will deduct dues, as well as initiation fees and assessments, if any, in amounts specified by the Association from the pay of members of the Faculty upon receipt of individually-signed authorizations on a form which has been agreed upon by the University and the Association. If a Faculty member has revoked membership in the Association, the Association will promptly notify the University that henceforth the Representation Fee should be assessed instead of dues. The University has 30 days from notification by the Association to change the deduction from the assessment of dues to the assessment of the Representation Fee. The deduction of a Representation Fee from the payroll checks of members of the bargaining unit and its payment to the Association shall be automatic and will not require the authorization of the Faculty member. The University will continue the deduction of the Representation Fee from the payroll check of the bargaining unit member unless that bargaining unit member executes a membership authorization form.
Section 4. The University's obligation to make deductions for membership dues or the Representation Fee shall terminate automatically upon termination of employment.

(b) A Full-Time Faculty Member assigned as an Assistant Coach and not identified in the above stipend chart will receipt up to 50% of the head coach’s stipend of the sport coached.
(c) A part-time assistant coach may be employed for a partial part-time coaching assignment on a pro rata basis.
(d) In the event both the head coach and assistant coach are assigned to teach the course, the load will be proportionally split based on the recommendation of the xxxx and the head coach.
(e) The provisions of Section 11 became effective Fall 2013.

In addition to the intercollegiate class which represents a teaching load (currently .50FTEF), the head coach will receive a stipend as specified in Appendix D-2 of which 50% will be paid in the fall semester and 50% will be paid in the spring semester.
(b) A Full-Time Faculty Member assigned as an Assistant Coach and not identified in the above stipend chart will receive up to 50% of the head coach’s stipend of the sport coached.
(c) A part-time assistant coach may be employed for a partial part-time coaching assignment on a pro rata basis.
(d) In the event both the head coach and assistant coach are assigned to teach the course, the load will be proportionally split based on the recommendation of the xxxx and the head coach. Section 12. Faculty Advisor Pay A Faculty Member employed on an academic year basis who is assigned as a faculty advisor to assist the Counseling Division in consultations with students concerning academic advising and program and vocation planning purposes during peak demand periods for such counseling services shall be paid at the appropriate hourly rate set forth in Appendix D-3.

Athletic Coaches a. Faculty Members who are assigned to coach athletic teams will receive ten (10) hours of assigned time for the coaching duties. Such assigned time shall include the hours of class credit for the sport.
