Common use of Attaining Advancement Clause in Contracts

Attaining Advancement. An employee must demonstrate that advancement is merited on the basis of job performance. Advancement shall not be made solely because an employee is eligible according to time-in-step requirements. Good attitude and personal conduct, work accomplished, conscientious attendance, safety alertness, efforts at self-improvement, positive customer service, and other factors of individual achievement must be evident as appropriate to the position. The City Manager or designee shall be notified by the Human Resources Director or designee of an employee's approaching eligibility for step advancements.
