Basic Leave Allowance and Uses. Probationary employees may use basic leave only as sick leave and personal leave described in Sections 2 and 3 of this Article. Employees who have completed their probationary period may use basic leave as sick leave, personal leave, religious leave, and serious illness leave described in Sections 2, 3, 4, 5 of this Article. Subd. 1 Employees regularly scheduled to work forty (40) hours per week shall accrue 8 hours of basic leave per month of active employment. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least fourteen (14) hours per week but less than forty (40) hours per week shall accrue basic leave equal to the average number of hours worked per day for each month of active employment. As a supplement to the monthly allocation, employees regularly scheduled to work forty (40) hours per week shall accrue eight (8) additional hours of basic leave per year. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least fourteen (14) hours per week but less than forty (40) per week shall accrue an annual supplemental basic leave equal to the average number of hours worked per day during the year. Basic leave shall not accrue during unpaid approved leaves unless specifically so provided by the Employer in writing. Basic leave shall accrue monthly as it is earned, and shall be termed accrued basic leave. However, the supplement to the monthly allocation shall be awarded at the end of each work year on June 30.
