Candidate for Public Office. A leave of absence of up to 12 months may be granted to allow an employee to become a candidate in an election for public office. A leave of absence without pay commencing thirty calendar days prior to the election is required, unless exempted by the Employer. A vacancy created by such a leave of six (6) months or less shall be deemed a “temporary vacancy” meaning that the vacancy may be filled by a detail under Section 16.04.
