Public Office Leave. (a) An Employer shall grant a leave of absence without pay upon the request of any Nurse to run as a candidate in a Federal, Provincial, or Municipal election. If the Nurse withdraws as a candidate or is an unsuccessful candidate, she/he is entitled to return to her or his former position without loss of benefits provided that the Nurse gives two (2) weeks notice to the Employer of her/his intent to return unless mutually agreed to a shorter notice period.

Public Office Leave. An employee upon annual application may be granted a leave of absence without pay for up to six (6) years to serve in a public office. Upon return from such leave the employee shall be offered a position in the District for which he/she is certified and qualified.
Public Office Leave. (i) The Employer shall grant unpaid leave of absence without loss of seniority so that an employee may stand as a candidate for a federal, provincial or municipal elective public office up to and including eight (8) weeks provided written notice is given to the Employer a minimum of two (2) weeks in advance of the effective date of the leave.

An Employee granted such a leave of absence shall give the Employer sixty (60) Days written notice of intention to return.
Public Office Leave. The Board may grant a leave of absence without pay to any tenured teacher to campaign for, or serve in, a public office, but any leave granted under this paragraph shall be for a period of not less than one (1) semester nor more than two (2) consecutive years.
