Change of Shift or Days On and Days Off. The provisions of this Article are intended to be used solely to cover the scheduled or unscheduled absence of employees within the scope of this Agreement. 6.03.01 Occasional changes to an individual's schedule may occur to cover the absence of another employee due to annual vacations, sick leave and maternity leave, training and time off for Union business. 6.03.02 Where more than one employee is available to provide the necessary coverage, the assignment will be offered in order of seniority to the employee who is qualified to do the job. 6.03.03 Employees will be provided with not less than three (3) clear calendar days’ notice for a change of shift and not less than five (5) clear calendar days’ notice of a change of days off, unless sufficient notice from the customer is not received These time limits may be reduced if there are no employees available or willing to accept overtime or recall or if mutual agreement is reached between the Company and the Employee. Notice of the change will be provided to the employee in writing, copied to the Union District Chairperson, if rejected by the employee they forfeit the right to makeup the hours. If there are insufficient volunteers it will be assigned in inverse order of classification seniority amongst the available employees. When various training dates are available for required training, employees will be allowed their choice of dates in order of seniority subject to the employee who is qualified to do the joboperational requirements.
