Complementarity with other Bank operations. This supplemental financing continues the line of collaborative work by the Honduran government, the IDB, and the SDC begun in 2012 with the Program of Support for the Implementation of the Comprehensive Civic Coexistence and Public Safety Policy (2745/BL-HO), to which, jointly with the IDB, the SDC provided resources to: (i) improve the effectiveness of the institutional and operational management of the Office of the Secretary of State for Security (SEDS) and the PNH; (ii) update the country’s criminal investigation capacity; and (iii) actively involve the municipios in the management of civic coexistence and citizen security through municipal violence prevention councils and observatories. These collective efforts enabled a comprehensive approach that covered the main causes of security problems as well as enhancing the structuring of investments by both the Government of Honduras and international donors, thanks to the strengthening of the planning, monitoring, and evaluation capacities of the SEDS.
