Conflict of Interest and Apprehension of Bias. The Parties share a commitment to carry out the business of the University in a manner that is ethical and professional and in accordance with the principles of natural justice. The Parties have an obligation both to the University and to Members to be fair and objective when presenting a professional judgement on a Member at the request of an appropriate University committee or authority (e.g., a committee dealing with appointments, Tenure, Continuing appointment, Promotion, dismissal or research and instructional development grants). As such, the Parties recognize that they share a special responsibility to encourage all Members to discharge their duties and responsibilities in a manner that is free of conflict of interest and bias.
