Continuing appointment definition

Continuing appointment means the right of a unit member to continued employment without removal except as provided for in Article 8, Termination, or Article 9, Xxxxxx and Recall, or by resignation or retirement.
Continuing appointment for academic librarians and instructors shall mean a full-time academic appointment given independent of rank which may be terminated as provided in this Agreement.
Continuing appointment is an appointment to a full- or part-time position that is identified as “continuing” in the employment letter from Human Resources and for which no end date is stated in the employment letter.

Examples of Continuing appointment in a sentence

  • A person holding such an appointment may apply for a Probationary or Continuing appointment if such a position is available.

  • The Member is normally expected to apply for a Continuing appointment in the final year of a Renewed Continuing-track appointment.

  • The Parties have an obligation both to the University and to Members to be fair and objective when presenting a professional judgement on a Member at the request of an appropriate University committee or authority (e.g., a committee dealing with appointments, Tenure, Continuing appointment, Promotion, dismissal or research and instructional development grants).

  • A Librarian Member holding a Probationary appointment shall be considered for a Continuing appointment in accordance with the provisions of Article 24.

  • A Continuing appointment signifies the right of a Member to continuous employment that may be terminated only through the mechanisms provided in Article 8.


More Definitions of Continuing appointment

Continuing appointment means an appointment of a Staff Member without a fixed term, which may be terminated in accordance with the terms of this Agreement.
Continuing appointment means an academic appointment without term that may only be terminated by resignation, retirement, death, or in accordance with the terms of this Agreement;
Continuing appointment for Members shall mean the Member is contractually entitled to return to work the following academic year; an individual retiring at the end of the University Year shall also be deemed to hold a continuing appointment. “Co-ordinator”, when used without qualification, shall mean the Co-ordinator of one of the Interdisciplinary Programmes of the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Science at St. Xxxxxxx Xxxxxx University.
Continuing appointment means an appointment for an indefinite period. A Continuing Staff Member has the meaning of a Staff Member on a Continuing Appointment.
Continuing appointment means a full-time appointment to a position of academic rank for an indefinite period, which, once granted, shall not be affected by changes in such rank and shall continue until terminated in accordance with the agreement.
Continuing appointment means an appointment without term, subject to the provisions of this Collective Agreement. Day means working day.
Continuing appointment for a Member shall mean the Member is contractually entitled to return to work the following Academic Year. An individual retiring in that Academic Year shall also be deemed to hold a continuing appointment.
