Common use of Continuance of Seniority Clause in Contracts

Continuance of Seniority. Seniority shall continue to accumulate during: (a) periods of authorized leave of absence; (b) service in the Canadian Armed Forces to the extent required by laws of the Government of Canada; (c) lay-off or temporary cessation of employment due to causes beyond the control of the employee or of the City but if such cessation of employment extends beyond a period of three (3) months, seniority shall not be accumulated.
