Continuing Employees and Temporary Appointments. (a) Except for 13.03(b), if a continuing employee is the successful applicant for a temporary vacancy, then prior to accepting the appointment the employee may submit a written request to her/his current supervisor for the opportunity to return to her/his continuing position at the end of the temporary appointment. The granting of such a request will be subject to the ability of the respective department to accommodate the temporary absence, but granting will not be unreasonably withheld. The supervisor’s response to the request will be communicated in writing to the employee prior to the commencement of the temporary appointment.
