Conversion from Probationary to Continuing Appointment. a) A Member who holds a probationary appointment shall have the right to apply for a continuing appointment within twelve (12) months, but no later than nine (9) months, prior to the end of his probationary appointment, or at an earlier time in exceptional circumstances with the approval of the Vice-President Academic and Xxxxxxx. Before making this application the Member shall first consult with the University Librarian. b) The Member’s application for continuing appointment must include a written statement and a dossier of supportive evidence of the Member’s performance in the areas of librarianship as outlined in Article 23 (Members’ Rights, Duties and Responsibilities), research and scholarship, and service, as is applicable to the Member’s workplan for the period being assessed. c) At the time of application, the Member will provide the University Librarian with a list containing the names of three (3) referees, at least two (2) of whom must be external to the University and all of whom must be professional librarians in order to qualify to serve as independent referees.
