Course Requirements – Fire Prevention Officer. Candidates must successfully complete a Fire Prevention course that has been mutually agreed upon by Local 1271 and the Fire Chief as soon as reasonably possible upon filling the position of Prevention Captain. Candidates must successfully complete a Fire Investigator course upon the completion of their second year if they have chosen to hold the position for the optional two years.
