Definition of Casual Employee. A casual employee is one who is employed for relief purposes, or for work which is not scheduled on a regular basis, such as:
(a) "Casual employees" are employed on an "on call" basis to cover absences due to sick leave, vacation, or other approved leaves, or to augment staff during peak periods or periods paid leave relief;
(b) unpaid leave relief;
(c) temporary increase of staff shortageworkload situations.
