Definition of Catastrophic Illness or Injury. For the purposes of this provision “Catastrophic illness or injury” shall mean an illness or injury: a. That is expected to incapacitate the receiving member or a member of their family for an extended period of time beyond the exhaustion of the members paid leave entitlements; and b. Which would create a financial hardship for the member due to the exhaustion of all sick leaves and other paid time off.
