Definition of Catastrophic Illness or Injury. For the purpose purposes of this policy, catastrophic provision “Catastrophic illness or injury is defined as a debilitating injury” shall mean an illness or injury that requires injury: a. That is expected to incapacitate the employee receiving member or a member of their family for an extended period of time beyond the exhaustion of the members paid leave entitlements; and b. Which would create a financial hardship for the member due to be on a prolonged leave the exhaustion of absence of workall sick leaves and other paid time off.
