Definition of Electronic Signature Sample Clauses

Definition of Electronic Signature. A first definition of an electronic signature is that it is the equivalent in the electronic (or digital) world to the hand-written signature in the physical world. An electronic signature is used to authenticate the data to which it is applied, meaning that it enables the verification of the origin of the information and the integrity of the content. In other words, with an electronic signature, the recipient can be sure that the originator of the document is really the person they claim to be and that the content of the file has not been altered after signing. Generally speaking the person can be a company or a natural person.
