Dewatering - The Contractor shall prevent surface and subsurface (groundwater) water from flowing into the excavation and from flooding the project site. The Contractor shall not allow water to accumulate in excavations, and any water which does accumulate shall be removed to prevent softening and soil changes detrimental to the strength and stability of subgrades. The Contractor shall provide and maintain pumps, sumps, suction and discharge lines, and other dewatering system components necessary to convey water away from the excavation. The water shall be discharged away from creeks, planned improvements and excavations.
