Diagnosis During Initial Assessment. 18.6.1 Contractor may use the following options during the assessment phase of client’s treatment when a diagnosis has yet to be established as specified in BHIN 22-013: 18.6.1.1 ICD-10 codes Z55-Z65 Potential health hazards related to socioeconomic and psychological circumstances: may be used by all providers as appropriate during the assessment period prior to diagnosis and do not require certification as, or supervision, of, an LPHA. 18.6.1.2 ICD-10 code Z03.89 Encounter for observation for other suspected diseases and conditions ruled out: may be used by an LPHA during the assessment phase of a client’s treatment when a diagnosis has yet to be established. 18.6.1.3 CMS approved diagnosis code on the ICD 10 tabular, available in the CMS 2022 ICD-10-CM page at: xxxxx://xxx.xxx.xxx/medicare/icd-10/2022-icd-10-cm, which may include Z codes. LPHAs may use any clinically appropriate ICD-10 code, for example, codes for “Other specified” and “Unspecified” disorders, or “Factors influencing health status and contact with health services”.
