Disaster Assignments Leave/ Leave After. a Disaster Assignment. Effective the first of the month following ninety (90) days after ratification, the Disaster Assignments Leave language in all local contracts shall be removed, and the following shall be added to the Addendum: A. As part of the critical mission of the Red Cross, employees may actively participate in local, regional and national disaster relief efforts. The Red Cross will make reasonable efforts to provide employees with opportunities to participate in Red Cross disaster training and to accept assignments on Red Cross disaster relief operations. B. Employees will be compensated at their regular rate of pay while attending disaster training during scheduled working hours or while on disaster assignments. Employees who have completed service on a disaster operation will be given additional time off before resuming their work duties. An employee will be given one (1) day of additional time off for every seven (7) days he or she was assigned to the disaster operation, not to exceed ten (10) days. This time off is not charged against the employee’s paid time off and is not considered work time for purposes of calculating overtime. This time off must be taken within
