Common use of Distant Work Clause in Contracts

Distant Work. When Employees are employed on a job at such a distance from their usual places of residence that they cannot reasonably return to those residences each night the Company will either: • Provide adequate meals and accommodation; or • Where employees are provided with accommodation by the Company but where meals are not supplied, an allowance of $35 per day will be paid to cover the cost of meals and incidentals, and no further allowances will be payable. This allowance will not be paid at weekends where an employee returns home. The arrangement will be agreed prior to the commencement of the distant work. Where an Employee is directed to use their own vehicle to travel to distant work they will be paid an allowance of $0.41 per km. Where an Employee is directed to use public transport to distant work, economy class fares will be provided. Where an Employee is required to use their own vehicle to effect a transfer from one job to another they shall be paid an allowance of $0.77 cents per km.
