Common use of EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT LEAVE Clause in Contracts

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT LEAVE. WITHOUT PAY‌ Faculty members who have completed two (2) years of service with the employer shall be eligible to apply for a leave without pay for the purpose of advanced education or vocational related preparation, related work in another institution or private business organization, or for other activities which will improve the employee's professional expertise. Written requests for educational and professional improvement leave shall be submitted to the Xxxx/CEO and shall include the reason for the requested leave. If the Xxxx/CEO approves the leave request, it shall be forwarded to the President or designee and the Board of Regents for final approval. The length of the leave period shall be agreed upon prior to the commencement of the leave and shall normally not exceed one year. Faculty members on educational and professional improvement leave shall be permitted to participate in the group health insurance plan at their own expense.
