Common use of Educational/Health Leaves of Absence Clause in Contracts

Educational/Health Leaves of Absence. An unpaid leave of absence up to one year shall be granted by the Board of Education to a maximum of two employees for educational purposes, health reasons or travel. Only teachers are eligible for leave for educational purposes. A leave that is granted for health reasons will be certified by a physician. The Board reserves the right to challenge the physician’s findings. Requests for an unpaid leave of absence will be granted by seniority in years of teaching and priority according to educational purposes, health reasons and travel.
