Common use of Employment Leave Clause in Contracts

Employment Leave. After six continuous months of employment, nurses may be granted ten working days of leave without pay each calendar year. (a) The Employer will use its discretion, whether a nurse can leave at the nurse’s requested date or at a time more suitable to the needs of the Employer. This leave will be determined by staff requirements as other nurses may be on holiday or on sick leave. (b) This leave must be taken between 1 September and 30 April wherever possible and is not to be included with annual vacation. (c) All nurses requesting an employment leave must complete the request for leave of absence form a minimum of thirty days prior to their desired leave. (d) This leave is intended to give nurses a break from their employment and therefore must be taken in its entirety.
