Environmental Protection and Extended Life. The Offeror shall describe a concept for a bio-dispersant based polymer coating to protect wet hardware from corrosion and biofouling. The coating shall prevent corrosion and biofouling on 98% of a surface for a period of 6 months when submerged in sea water at a depth of 15 feet, for test purposes. The coating shall operate in sea water at temperatures between -10° to 100°C to support accelerated life testing. For the purposes of actual operation, the coating shall operate at depths up to 1000 meters and temperatures between 35oC and -2oC. When applied to an acoustic window, the coating shall cause less than 0.75 dB insertion loss at an acoustic frequency of 2500 Hz and 90-degree (perpendicular) incident angle. The concept shall identify the approach for accelerated life testing as well as predictive modeling to show the design meets long term operational performance requirements in the field. The concept shall identify how it will be compliant to applicable U.S. Government and International Maritime Organization environmental regulations and guidance, as well as standard methods for personal safety shall be addressed. Describe the steps required for Conceptual Design (SOW 4.1), Prototype Design, Fabrication, Integration and Test (SOW 4.2), Test and Evaluation (SOW 4.4), and Transition to Production (SOW 4.5).
