Common use of Examination Time Clause in Contracts

Examination Time. Employees having regular status in regular positions at the time of application shall be entitled to a reasonable amount of time off with pay for the purpose of attending all examination processes required for selection to a different County position. Employees are responsible for notifying and obtaining approval from their immediate supervisor prior to taking such leave. Examination time off shall not be charged against any accumulated leave balances and shall be compensated at the employee’s base hourly rate. Employees must report to work before and after examination time provided there is an opportunity for at least one (1) hour of actual work time. The employee will not be required to return to work if more than one (1) hour remains after Examination Time and the employee has received prior approval from the appointing authority or designee to use appropriate leave from the employee’s accrued “leave bank.” Employees having probationary status, including those who have previously held regular status in another classification, are not entitled to examination time off with pay.
