Union Membership. Every employee who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Union shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, and every new employee whose employment commences hereafter shall, within thirty (30) days after the commencement of employment, apply for and maintain membership in the Union, as a condition of employment, provided that any employee in the appropriate bargaining unit, who is not required to maintain membership or apply for and maintain membership in the Union, shall, as a condition of employment, tender to the Union the periodic dues uniformly required to be paid by the members of the Union.

Union Membership. Employees have the right to join or to refrain from joining the Union. Neither the Employer nor the Union nor any of their respective agents or representatives shall discriminate against or interfere with the rights of employees to become or not become members of the Union, and further there shall be no discrimination or coercion against any employee because of Union membership or non-membership. The Union shall, in its responsibility as exclusive representative of the employees, represent all bargaining unit employees without discrimination, interference, restraint, or coercion.
Union Membership. Membership in the Union is not compulsory. All employees have the right to join, not join, maintain or drop their membership in the Union as they see fit. The Union recognizes, however, that it is required under this Agreement to represent all employees included within the collective bargaining unit without regard to whether the employee is a member of the Union.
Union Membership. Section 1. It shall be a condition of employment that whenever the Employer is primarily engaged in the Building and Construction Industry, all Journeymen Glaziers and Xxxxxxx Apprentices who are members of the Union in good standing on the effective date of this Agreement, shall remain members in good standing and those who are not members on the effective date of this Agreement shall, on the eighth (8th) day following the effective date of this Agreement, become and remain members in good standing in the Union. All such Journeymen Glaziers and Xxxxxxx Apprentices hired on or after the effective date of this Agreement shall, as a condition of employment, on the eighth (8th) day following the beginning of such employment, become and remain members in good standing in the Union. Section 2. The Union agrees to accept the above employees into membership providing they qualify under the prevailing rules and regulations. (a) He or she must have documentary evidence that they have served at least four (4) years of Apprenticeship training in the Glazing Trade and satisfactorily met the school requirements set by the Department of Apprenticeship Standards and the local Apprenticeship Committee. (b) He or she must have documented evidence of having worked as a Xxxxxxx in the Glazing Trade at least six (6) years doing work covered by the jurisdiction of the Union. Such proof must be presented to the Union at the time of application to become a member of this Local. The documentary evidence will be subject to verification by the Union. The applicant hereunder may also be required by the Union to satisfactorily demonstrate his/her physical skills and knowledge at the Glazing Trade as determined by the Union. Section 3. A program shall be offered by District Council Apprenticeship Program for the advanced or upgraded training for all apprentices and journeyman working under this Agreement. Apprentices and Journeyman shall be required to take the following courses: Section 4. The Employer agrees to notify the Union of any new employee covered by this Agreement within twenty-four (24) hours after his date of employment, providing the name, address, and Social Security Number of the new employee. Section 5. The Employer agrees to deduct from the wages, including vacation pay, of all employees covered by this Agreement, administrative dues in accordance with the District Council Bylaws for each hour worked, including travel time and overtime commencing from the first (1st)...

Union Membership. (a) No Employee shall be subject to any penalties against his application for membership or reinstatement, except as may be provided for in United Steelworkers Constitution and in accordance with the By-Laws of Local Union Nos. 1-405, 1-417 and 1-423. (b) Any Employee who applies to join the Union pursuant to the provision herein and whose application is rejected by the Union, shall not be subject to discharge from employment.
Union Membership. The parties acknowledge that collective industrial relations will continue as a fundamental principle of the Company. 13.1.1 All prospective and current employees will be strongly encouraged by the parties to join and maintain financial membership of the ETU. An introduction to the workplace ETU representative shall form part of the official induction program and adequate time shall be allowed to ensure Union membership can be discussed. 13.1.2 All employees of the Company who are members of the ETU shall be encouraged to participate in Union meetings and exercise their democratic rights. 13.1.3 The Company shall allow workplace ETU delegates adequate time and facilities during normal working hours to attend to Union duties. Union Membership. Employees covered by this Agreement at the time it becomes effective and who are members of the Union at that time shall be required as a condition of continued employment to maintain membership in the Union in good standing for the duration of this Agreement. Employees hired, rehired, reinstated or transferred into the bargaining unit after the effective date of this Agreement and covered by this Agreement shall be required as a condition of continued employment to become and remain members of the Union in good standing at or before the 30th day following the beginning of their employment. The obligation to maintain good standing in the Union is defined as the duty to tender the periodic dues and initiation fees uniformly required as a condition of acquiring or retaining membership in the Union. Provided further that employees who are in fact members of the Union shall be required to tender periodic dues, the initiation fees uniformly required as a condition of acquiring or retaining membership in the Union and payment of any assessments for legal fees for negotiations with the University and for representative services performed by the Union. The Union will accept as members all present and future employees who are covered by this Agreement on the same terms and conditions generally applicable to other members. Whenever the Union shall charge that any employee covered by this Agreement who has become a member of the Union in good standing has failed to remain a member of the Union in good standing during the term of this Agreement as required by the preceding paragraph or that any employee covered by this Agreement has failed to become and remain a member of the Union in good standing during the term of this Agreement as required by this paragraph and shall request the discharge of such employee, the University and the employee shall be so notified by the Union in writing and the University shall have thirty (30) calendar days following receipt of notice to discharge such employee. If during such 30-day period the employee shall pay or tender his or her initiation fee and/or delinquent dues as the case may be, the University shall not be required to discharge such employee. The Union shall indemnify and save the University harmless against any and all claims, demands and other forms of liability that may arise out of any action taken by the University in fulfilling the terms of this Section.
