Common use of Examination Time Clause in Contracts

Examination Time. ‌ Employees having regular status in regular positions at the time of application, or employees who do not have regular status but have previously held regular status and continuously remained a County employee, shall be entitled to a reasonable amount of time off with pay for the purpose of attending all examination processes (e.g., selection interviews) required for selection to a different County position. Employees are responsible for notifying and obtaining approval from their immediate supervisor prior to taking such leave. Examination time off shall not be charged against any accumulated leave balances and shall be compensated at the employee’s base hourly rate. An employee is not entitled to compensation if the employee is able to complete the examination on his/her own non-working time (e.g., online exams). Employees must report to work before and after the examination process provided there is an opportunity for at least one (1) hour of actual work time. The employee will not be required to return to work if more than one (1) hour remains after the examination process and the employee has received prior approval from the appointing authority or designee to use appropriate leave from the employee’s accrued “leave bank”. Examination Time will not be pro-rated for job sharing and part-time employees, as they are eligible for the full non-prorated benefit.
