Extended Leave for Professional Growth. Extended leave for professional growth without salary may be granted to a tenured teacher. A letter requesting this leave must be to the superintendent no later than 7 days prior to a regularly scheduled monthly board meeting and no less than thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the leave. The leave must meet the approval of the Board of Trustees, and unless approved by the board, may not exceed twenty contracted days. The teacher returning from extended leave shall be restored to his or her teaching position without loss of seniority, status, or placement on the salary schedule.
