PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 8.1 The basic salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix A which is attached to and incorporated into this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect for the duration of this Agreement. The rate of salary for teachers employed less than full-time shall be based on the following formula applied to the appropriate salary track and experience level: A. At the elementary level, the rate shall be determined on the basis of the amount of time assigned to the part-time teacher as a percentage of the total teaching time assigned to a full-time teacher in an equivalent assignment. B. At the middle school, the rate for each exploratory and elective class assigned to a part-time teacher will be one-fifth (1/5) of the appropriate full-time salary. C. At the high school, the rate for each class assigned to a part-time teacher will be one-fifth (1/5) of the appropriate full-time salary. D. If a part-time teacher is assigned to more than one building, the rate of salary shall be determined for each building independently as described above and then added together. Additional compensation shall then be added for travel time between buildings based on the rate applied to the level to which the teacher is primarily assigned. The primary assignment is the level at which the greater percentage of time is assigned to the teacher. 8.2 Rates of pay for extra curricular duties covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B. Teachers shall inform the District at the time they sign their contract the form they choose for their extra curricular stipend payment. The options shall be: A. Lump sum payment at end of activity. B. Prorated payment of stipend included in the remainder of their regular bi-weekly paychecks. 8.3 Tax deductions on teacher lump sum payments shall be made according to the available payroll program which provides the closest approximation of normal bi-weekly levels of deductions. Any changes in lump sum tax deduction programs will be discussed with the Association. 8.4 Xxx "XX+00", "XX+00", "XX+00" and "MA+45", in the salary classification refer to semester hours of credit earned subsequent to the time the appropriate degree was conferred. The "Specialist" classification refers to those people who have completed an Educational Specialist Degree, which did not necessarily include the award of a Master's Degree. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The basic salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect during the designated periods. B. All teachers shall be given a maximum of five (5) years credit on the Salary Schedule set forth in Appendix B for full years of outside teaching experience in any school district in the State of Michigan or other teaching experience in a school district accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. All teachers not at the top of the salary schedule and presently employed effective this salary contract date will be placed on the updated salary schedule. There shall be no retroactivity prior to effective contract date. C. A teacher’s hourly rate is to be determined by dividing his/her annual regular salary by the number of days he/she is contracted divided by the number of hours for which he/she works per day. D. Teachers involved in voluntary extra duty assignments as set forth in Appendix B-1 which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement without deviation. (Floats shall not be assigned to a teacher.) E. Teachers required in the course of their work to drive personal automobiles from one (1) school building to another shall receive a car allowance at current board rate. Teachers who are regularly assigned to work in more than one (1) building are entitled to a stipend of one-hundred dollars ($100) per year, to be paid at the end of the school year. Bargaining unit members who previously received mileage for traveling between buildings will continue to receive the mileage allowance. F. All teachers may elect to have their pay in twenty-one (21) or twenty-six (26) installments. After the first pay a teacher may not change their election of either the twenty-one (21) or twenty-six (26) pay installment. G. Once every school year during the September open enrollment period, each teacher will be given the choice of his/her check being directly deposited into any bank accounts or credit union accounts of his/her choice for that school year.
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired after May 31, 2014, outside experience credit will be given for up to seven (7) years. To be eligible for educational advancement, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the district. All courses used for this credit must be approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Only fully licensed staff members will be eligible for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count for educational advancement provided that: 1) the staff member is not eligible to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. Grandfather Clause: Licensed staff members who prior to January 1, 2018, began taking graduate-level courses that extend past MA but do not lead to an advanced degree or endorsement may be approved to continue taking such courses for educational advancement to either MA+15 or MA+30 (only one, not both), provided that the coursework is completed and grades are submitted by December 30, 2019. MA + 30 will be available only for staff members hired prior to June 1, 2014. A Master of Social Work/Psychology Degree shall be considered the equivalent of MA+30. Based upon degree program, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists may also be considered equivalent of MA + 30. Educational advancement will only occur once a year at the beginning of the school year. In order to qualify educational advancement in a given year, the staff member must notify the Human Resources Department by submitting an official transcript, grade report or certificate of completion no later than September 1st in the year in which the educational advancement is to take place. The actual change and corresponding compensation adjustment will only occur when the official transcript is received by the Human Resources Department and will be retroactive to the beginning of the school year. Salary computations shall be made on the basis of 180 days for the duration of the agreement. All pro-rated days shall have salary adjusted accordingly. Staff members who are injured on the job while actively performing their assigned duties shall suffer no loss in pay for a temporary disability resulting from such injury. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A and subject to the provisions of Schedule A, which is attached to, and incorporated in, this Agreement. 1. The salary Schedule A. I. is for a normal teaching load as defined in Article VI. For extra duty which has received prior administrative approval, the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate professional compensation: in compensatory time; through a teacher's hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3; or in accordance with Sections E or F of this Article; or as listed in Schedule A. II, as may be applicable. The administration shall establish a system-wide list of additional activities for which compensatory time will be available and the amount of compensatory time associated with each. This list shall be updated with HEA input on a yearly basis and be distributed to teachers at the start of each school year. 2. Compensatory time is defined as personal leave earned by extra duty, and may be substituted for monetary payment equal to the teacher hourly rate as defined in ¶ B.3. a. Accrued compensatory time may be used at the discretion of the teacher provided that, compensatory time shall not be scheduled for use on more that three (3) consecutive school days. Furthermore, compensatory time may not be scheduled contiguous to Christmas, mid- winter and/or spring break. Exceptions for special circumstances my be granted by the signed approval of the building principal and contingent upon substitute availability. Within five (5) days the teacher must confirm with the building principal that a substitute has been obtained. b. Compensatory time shall be credited and deducted as follows: For substitution at the High School, Middle School, and Elementary level during a teacher’s planning period or specials time, a “unit” of instruction shall be credited and deducted in whole units. Five (5) “units” of instruction shall equate to one compensatory “day”. Compensatory time can only be earned and used in whole “units”. c. A teacher may carry over a maximum of the equivalence of ten (10) days of accumulated compensatory time to the next school year. Should a teacher have more than ten (10) days of compensatory time accumulated at the end of the school year the teacher shall have the option of either converting his/her compensatory time he/she has accumulated beyond the ten (10) day carry over maximum into sick time at a one (1) compensatory day (or portion thereof) to one (1) sick leave day (...
PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salary schedule is based upon normal full-time teaching load as hereinafter defined in this Article and Article 5 of this Agreement and upon the school calendar. The denominator to determine a teacher’s daily pay will be the number of teacher obligation days listed on the calendar. Scheduled days and hours of student instruction which are not held because of conditions not within the control of school authorities, such as (severe storms), fires, epidemics, (utility power unavailability, water or sewer failure), or health conditions (as defined by city, county or State health authorities) will be rescheduled to ensure that there are a minimum number of days and hours of student instruction as prescribed by the Revised School Code and the State School Aid Act to enable the Board to receive full pupil membership and categorical appropriations. Teachers shall be excused from reporting for school on those days on which school is closed due to the above conditions. Teachers will receive their regular pay for days that are cancelled, but shall work the rescheduled days and/or hours with no additional compensation. Teachers who have been previously scheduled to take paid leave under this Agreement on a day(s) of pupil instruction that is cancelled due to the conditions specified in this Article shall not have their absence on such day(s) charged against paid leave provided that the teacher works any required rescheduled day(s) and/or hours of instruction without additional compensation, as specified in this Article. The parties agree that this contract provision has been negotiated to comply with the provisions of the State School Aid Act; to ensure that the District will incur no loss of State aid; and to comply with requirements set forth in the Revised School Code and State School Aid Act respecting the required number of “student instruction” days and hours. If any scheduled days and hours of student instruction are canceled after May 20, whether or not these cancelled days and hours are required to be rescheduled for receipt of State aid, these cancelled days and hours will be rescheduled as part of the school calendar unless the Board and Association mutually agree to waive this provision. The purpose of this provision is to provide a smooth end to the school year. B. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 22.1 All full-time teachers, with the exception of JROTC instructors, school psychologists, and secondary guidance counselors (defined as guidance counselors in schools housing seventh grade or above), will be paid for 196 days according to the salary schedule as shown in Appendix C. 22.1-1 The standard year employment for psychologists is 216 days, however flexible length contracts of 196 days or 247 days may be made available at the discretion of the Coordinator of Psychological Services. Requests for the flexible contracts are voluntary and positions will be filled according to seniority as defined in Article XIX, Section 19.2. A balance of flexible contracts will be maintained. Psychologists may be permitted to change to a flexible contract before each new school year through the Coordinator of Psychological Services. School psychologists performing psychological assessments of students on Saturday will be paid based on the Adult School Salary Schedule as shown in Appendix E. If a student is a no show the School Psychologist shall remain at the worksite for two (2) paid hours. Should there be more psychologists requesting these assignments than available referrals, assignments will be given according to seniority in the county. 22.1-2 JROTC instructors shall be given the option, at the beginning of the school year, of going on the teacher salary schedule or be paid on the basis of the Board's agreement with the various branches of the armed services. School psychologists and secondary guidance counselors shall be paid for 216 days according to the salary schedule shown in Appendix C. 22.1-3 All teachers employed in the Polk Virtual School program shall observe the traditional calendar. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 4.1 The salaries of teachers covered by this agreement are for 184 days of work and are set forth in Appendix A which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect as designated each year. Teachers will not be required to report to work on Act of God days and will experience no loss of pay. 4.2 The salary schedule is based upon a normal teaching load, as hereinafter defined for not to exceed the number of days specified in the calendar during normal teaching hours. For each additional class the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate additional salary. This salary shall be determined by dividing his/her base salary, as set forth in Appendix A, by the number of class periods scheduled daily. The number of daily class periods currently scheduled at grades 6-8 is seven and 9-12 is five. 4.3 Teachers may, as a representative group and through the assistance of their building principals, initiate changes in building scheduling which would positively impact the student population. Any changes will include the following standard procedures in building schedules: A. A compilation of “Best Practice” research. B. A representative committee of teachers and respective building principal to study the proposed change. C. Consensus of affected building teachers. D. An annual evaluation procedure by the committee specified in “B” above. 4.4 The Board agrees that the chief negotiator(s) for the Association engaged during the school day in negotiations on behalf of the Association with the Board and/or its designated representative during the term of this Agreement shall be entitled to released time, as needed, without loss of salary. 4.5 Experience outside the school system shall be evaluated by the Board and credit for up to one (1) year less than the BA or MA Maximum may be allowed. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. 4.1 The salary schedules, longevity and early retirement provisions, etc. of professional staff members covered by this Agreement are set forth in the schedules which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedules and fringe benefits shall remain in effect for the duration of this Agreement, except where otherwise stated herein. 4.2 Full time professional staff members shall be entitled to all benefits under the Agreement. Professional staff members employed for less than full time shall be entitled to benefits on a prorated basis as compared to full time employment, provided that no professional staff member shall receive less than one-half (½) the benefits of a full time professional staff member. All professional staff members shall be entitled to full dental, vision, life insurance, and any additional insurance benefits under this Agreement. 4.3 The salary schedule for each professional staff member position shall be based upon the appropriate calendar included in this Agreement and the agreed upon working hours. Professional staff members whose positions extend beyond the length of the appropriate calendar shall be compensated for such extended employment at their per diem rate. Orientation days for beginning professional staff members will be compensated for at their per diem rate when such days are outside the contractual year. 4.4 Professional staff members accepting co-curricular positions, as set forth in Tables II and III which are attached to and incorporated in this Agreement, shall be compensated in accordance with said tables. 4.5 Professional staff members shall be paid twenty-six (26) times per year. The individual professional staff members may, however, elect to receive their pay every other week during the term of his/her individual contract, provided he/she notifies the Finance Office no later than five work days prior to the first payday of his/her contract. Professional staff members who have elected to receive their pay in twenty-six (26) installments may receive the balance of their contractual salary in the last pay covering their contract year by notifying the Finance Office no later than May 15. A copy of the next year’s payroll schedule shall be included with the last paycheck issued prior to May 1, of the current year.
