Family Medical Leave Act Leave (FMLA. The Board shall provide Family and Medical Leave in accordance with federal law and its implementing regulations. Each eligible employee is entitled to up to 12 weeks of FMLA leave in any 12-month period. The employee must substitute any of his/her accrued paid leave for Family and Medical Leave when such may be elected by the Board under federal law. The 12-month period is measured forward from the date an employee's first FMLA leave begins. A staff member must have worked at least twelve (12) months total and must have worked at least 1250 hours during the previous twelve (12) month period preceding the commencement of the leave in order to be eligible for the leave. FMLA leave will be approved for the following reasons:
