Family Medical Leave/Compassionate Care Benefits. It is recognized that certain circumstances may arise in the Member's personal or family life which may require his/her absence from the University for a limited period of time. Notification of such absence will be made before departure, whenever possible, to the appropriate Xxxx who may authorize leave with pay and benefits. Normally such leave will not exceed five (5) consecutive working days. Leave without pay beyond five (5) days may be granted as per the Ontario Employment Standards Act. The Member may apply for Employment Insurance (EI) at the closest Service Canada Centre (HRSDC). The Employer will issue a Record of Employment (XXX) to the Member to facilitate the submission of an EI application.
