Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act. (1) The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and California Family Rights Act (CFRA) provide up to twelve (12) weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to eligible employees, for certain qualifying family and medical reasons. (2) To qualify for this leave, the member must have all of the following: (a) Been employed with the Employer for at least twelve (12) months; (b) Physically worked 1250 hours during the twelve (12) month period immediately prior to the commencement of the leave; (c) Have a serious health condition, or be caring for a family with a serious health condition as defined by the Department of Labor; (d) Complete the appropriate forms and return them to Human Resources.
