Common use of Fire-protection mechanic Clause in Contracts

Fire-protection mechanic. Any such employee who reports to work at the appointed time at the request of the employer, but cannot start work due to bad weather, shall receive compensation equal to 1 hour’s pay at his wage rate, minus any pay already earned for work performed that same day. In the case of heavy industry work, however, this compensation is equal to 2 hours’ pay at his wage rate, minus any remuneration received for work performed that day. This employee may not refuse to work, however, when the employer assigns him to a job where he is protected from bad weather or supplies him with a rain suit. In addition, the employer may require that such employee remain at its disposal during the paid waiting time.
