Fire Safety. a. I will not, under any circumstances, tamper with or remove any safety equipment, including, but not limited to, fire pull stations, smoke or heat detectors/alarms, sprinklers, sprinkler valves and pipes, fire extinguishers or any alarm system. b. I will report equipment malfunctions to University staff immediately in writing. With regard to the smoke alarm, I will maintain it in proper condition, including informing University staff when batteries need replacing. c. I will not leave an appliance unattended while in use. g. I will be familiar with and abide by emergency evacuation instructions and procedures including, but not limited to, evacuation drills. h. I will not obstruct any walkway, hallway, stairwell, door or any part of the surrounding premises and grounds. i. I will not hang any towels, clothing, brooms, mops rugs, etc., on my balcony, patio, or in the front of my apartment. Patios and balconies are to be kept neat and orderly at all times. Plants and patio furniture are acceptable items at Campus View. All barbeques and cooking on unit patios or balconies are prohibited. j. I am responsible for fire alarm activation due to smoke from cooking, I may be charged for costs associated with response by fire safety personnel. k. I will not use, store, or possess flammable, explosive, toxic, hazardous, or any other inherently dangerous materials, including, but not limited to, candles, tires or rims, gasoline, other fuels, fireworks, ammunition, explosives, flammable liquids, propane, other compressed gases, or spray paint, in any Unit.

Fire Safety. a. I 20.2.1 You agree to adhere to all fire safety procedures identified in this Agreement, fire notices and respond to all fire alarms. You agree to have due regard to the fire evacuation procedures (which are displayed in the Halls of Residence and on notice boards in the Building) and evacuate your Room, Flat, the Halls of Residence and/or the Building on every occasion that the fire alarm rings continuously and co-operate at all times with our staff and contractors and the emergency services. 20.2.2 You will notcooperate with all fire drills and testing of fire alarms and fire detection equipment. 20.2.3 In the event of the fire alarms sounding, under any circumstancesyou and your Guest/s must leave the Halls of Residence immediately via the appropriate exit(s). Lifts must not be used for emergency evacuation. 20.2.4 You agree not to abuse, interfere or otherwise tamper with any of the fire prevention equipment as this is illegal. Any misuse of or remove damage to firefighting or detection equipment and any safety misuse of or damage to fire extinguishers, fire doors, wedging fire doors open, break glass points and fire / smoke detectors will be dealt with in accordance with disciplinary regulations. If you are found to abuse, interfere or otherwise tamper with any fire prevention equipment, including, including but not limited to, fire pull stations, smoke or heat detectors/alarms, sprinklers, sprinkler valves and pipes, to fire extinguishers or any alarm systemsmoke detectors, you may incur the reasonable cost for repair or replacement of said equipment. b. I 20.2.5 Due to fire risk, you must not have any fairy lights or string lights in the Student Residence (unless battery operated) or any items which have the potential for an exposed flame, including (without limitation) candles, tea lights, ▇▇▇▇ sticks, shishas, hookahs, flammable liquids and gases. Such items, if found, will report equipment malfunctions be confiscated and returned at the end of your period of Residence. 20.2.6 You agree not to bring in the Halls of Residence or Building Grounds any fireworks, Chinese lanterns or any other items of a similar standing which the University staff immediately reasonably considers to be dangerous. 20.2.7 You will not smoke, or allow Guest/s to smoke, in writingany area of the Halls of Residence with the exception of designated smoking areas. With regard to This includes the use of Electronic Cigarettes and Vaping. If you do smoke within an area of the Halls of Residence that is not a designated smoking area, and this causes the smoke alarmdetector or fire alarm to go off, I will maintain it in proper condition, including informing University staff when batteries need replacingyou may incur the reasonable cost of having the equipment switched off or reset. c. I will 20.2.8 You must not possess candles that have a burned wick presentcause any obstruction of Common Parts or fire escape routes nor prop open, or will remove otherwise tamper with the wick prior fire doors (including bedroom and kitchen doors) as they are designed to having it in my unitreduce the spread of fire. All fire doors have door closers, which you agree not to impede or disconnect. d. I will not burn candles, coals, incense, or anything with an open flame, or do anything else that is a fire risk or is a violation of the local fire code. e. I will not use or possess prohibited equipment or appliances, which include, but are not limited, to halogen lamps, space heaters, air conditioners, open-flame, multiple appliances that exceed the usage limits of your assigned Unit, Floor Lamps, and waterbeds. f. I 20.2.9 You will not leave an appliance food cooking unattended while in and ensure all cooking equipment is turned off after use. Deep Fat fryers and slow cookers are not permitted. g. I will be familiar with 20.2.10 You agree not to have any barbeques in the Building Grounds and abide by emergency evacuation instructions and procedures including, but not limited to, evacuation drillsonly prearranged organised events where BBQ’s requested are allowed through the Catering Department. h. I 20.2.11 You agree that only curtains supplied by us can be hung at bedroom windows as they comply with British Standard Fire Safety regulations. 20.2.12 If you suspect that any item of safety equipment is defective or has been used, you will promptly inform your Halls of Residence Reception. 20.2.13 You agree that staff authorised by the Halls of Residence Management Team may carry out Health & Safety fire prevention checks in all Communal Areas every 2 weeks and 3 times a year in your study bedroom. 20.2.14 Depending on your Building, you should expect to have checks anything from once a week to once a month. 20.2.15 For the avoidance of doubt failure to observe and cooperate with any points listed in Clause 20 will result in disciplinary action being taken, which could lead to the termination of this Accommodation Agreement. Fire Safety is paramount and any breaches will not obstruct any walkway, hallway, stairwell, door or any part of the surrounding premises and groundsbe tolerated. i. I will not hang any towels, clothing, brooms, mops rugs, etc., on my balcony, patio, or in the front of my apartment. Patios and balconies are to be kept neat and orderly at all times.
