Fixed object inventory. The purpose of this task is to inventory locations on State Highway System where fixed object exist within the roadway clear zone. Typical fixed objects are utility poles, signals poles, sign posts, etc. The Consultant will identify the fixed object locations and make recommendations for mitigating the same so that the hazard can be removed, relocated, delineated or made crash- worthy. In addition, the Consultant will make determination of the need for guardrail or cable-barrier to protect the motorists against hazards such as steep embankment on the side of the median, body of water adjacent to the roadway, etc. While the guardrail may be required at a location, other alternatives, if appropriate, should be investigated and evaluated.
