Flaring and venting of natural gas Sample Clauses

Flaring and venting of natural gas. The OGA has the power to grant consent to flaring and/or venting of natural gas from an oil processing facility, either under the terms of a licence, or, when no licence exists, under OGA granted consent under the power provided for by Section 12A of the Energy Act 1976 (inserted by the Energy Act 2016). In the event of a situation where the consent for flaring and/or venting may be necessary under circumstances that do not fall within Section 12A, the Secretary of State retains the power to issue consent under Section 12 of the Energy Act 1976 - where the power Is not limited to processing facilities. For example, if there is a need to vent from a pipeline which would not consUtute as an oil processing facility, and no licence is in place, the Secretary of State would hold the power to grant consent. If the need for such a consent arises, the OGA will inform the Shareholder Team who will provide advice to the Secretary of State.
