TRAINING AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT. 9.1 The Employer and the Union recognize the value and benefit of education and training designed to enhance an employee’s ability to perform their job duties. Training and employee development opportunities will be provided to employees in accordance with college/district policies and available resources.
9.2 Attendance at employer-required training will be considered time worked. The Employer will make reasonable attempts to schedule employer-required training during an employee’s regular work shift. The Employer will pay the registration, and associated travel costs in accordance with Article 23, Travel, for employer- required training.
TRAINING AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT. Sections 9.2 and 9.3 of Article 9, Training and Employee Development apply to represented individuals.

Training and employee development opportunities will be provided to employees in accordance with College policies, available resources, and employee training needs.
8.2 Attendance at College-required training will be considered time worked. The College will make reasonable attempts to schedule College-required training during an employee’s core work hours. The College will pay the registration and associated travel costs in accordance with Article 24, Travel and Per Diem, for College-required training.

A. Training and employee development opportunities will be provided to employees in accordance with agency policies and available resources.
B. The Department of Social and Health Services and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families will make reasonable attempts to schedule Employer-required training during the employee’s regular work shift.
8.2 Attendance at agency-required training will be considered time worked including travel in accordance with Subsection 7.1 (C)(2).

Training and employee development opportunities will be provided to employees in accordance with current institution policies and available resources.
9.2 The Employer will continue to provide release time to each employee to participate in training and development activities consistent with the Employer’s training and development policies.
9.3 An employee may communicate his or her education and skill development training desires annually through the PDP process.
9.4 An employee who wishes to use tuition fee waiver will be allowed to do so in accordance with Employer policy. Employees who wish to enroll in courses at other higher education institutions will abide by the policies of those institutions.
9.5 The Employer will make reasonable attempts to schedule employer-required training during an employee’s regular work schedule. Attendance at employer- required training will be considered time worked and the Employer will pay the registration costs. Travel associated with training will be paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws and OFM travel regulations.

A. Cold Water Survival;
B. Aircraft Emergency Egress Training (including Emergency Breathing Device Training);
C. Watercraft Training (MOCC, swift water, non-motorized);
D. Safety Training while working near highways/roadways;
E. Conflict Avoidance and De-Escalation Training;
F. Sampler Assault Training; G. First Aid/CPR;

9.3 The Employer may approve additional professional or technical training and/or education courses. Additional courses will normally include those that will enhance employees’ technical proficiency and future performance. When
9.4 The Employer will provide or make available, and the employees will participate in, training approved by management in order to maintain their professional skills, standards and proficiencies as established by the Agency and their profession.
9.5 The Masters, Mates and Pilots, International Association of Fire Fighters, Teamsters Enforcement Sergeants, Fish and Wildlife Officers Guild, The Affiliated Washington Pharmacists, Association of Industrial Appeals Judges, and Union of Physicians of Washington bargaining unit employees will participate in agency provided or approved training to maintain agency required certification.
9.6 Employees will not lose work time if approved to attend a professional conference. Travel and other expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Article 22, Travel, of this Agreement.
9.7 MM&P The Employer will establish a training plan for each Marine employee which will include required training based on the job duties. Upon approval, each Marine employee who successfully completes a Management required course, not already provided by the agency will be eligible for reimbursement. These courses may include, but not be limited to STCW, HAZWOPER, first aid, radar, bridge management, fire training and safety courses.

TRAINING AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT. SECTION 1. Employee training and development programs are designed to assure maximum efficiency of employees in the performance of their official duties, and to encourage employee self-development to become more proficient in his or her line of work or to qualify for promotion.
SECTION 2. Nomination for, and selection of, employees for training will be based on the needs of the Activity without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, handicap, XXXX or other non-merit factor.
SECTION 3. The Activity, in accordance with applicable regulations, will pay for the costs associated with an employee's job-related training that it requires and has approved.
SECTION 4. When training is given primarily to prepare employees for advancement and the training is required for promotion, competitive procedures will be followed in selecting the persons to receive such training.
SECTION 5. Employees who have submitted a written request for training will be notified of their selection or non-selection and provided an explanation for non-selection, in writing, upon request.
SECTION 6. Employees are encouraged to use appropriate self-development opportunities related to their official duties or their career goals. Employees are encouraged to participate in preparing an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and/or Learning Development Plan (LDP).
SECTION 7. Employees must complete required mandatory training each year.
