FMLA: Serious Illness/Medical Certification. Requests for paid leave or unpaid leave for a serious health condition for an employee or to care for the employee’s spouse, child or parent who has a serious health condition will require medical certification if the employee has accumulated sick days in his/her sick leave bank and meets eligibility requirements under FMLA. Refer to Section B of this Article.
