For Tenure. All recommendations concerning faculty tenure are forwarded by the University Rank and Tenure Committee to the Chancellor of the University, who in turn makes recommendations to the University's Board of Trustees. The Chancellor may elect not to recommend for tenure candidates recommended at earlier levels. However, if the Chancellor fails to recommend tenure for a candidate who has received positive recommendations from at least three of the previous levels, and two of the previous levels in the case of a unit member from the College of Education, the Chancellor shall advise the candidate in writing of the decision. The candidate is then entitled to a hearing with the Chancellor. The Chancellor may not recommend for tenure any candidate who has not received positive recommendations at least three review levels, or two of the previous levels in the case of unit members from the College of Education. In the event a candidate receives three or more positive reviews and the Chancellor does not recommend tenure or two in the case of a unit member from the College of Education, the Chancellor shall provide specific written reasons to the candidate for that decision. It is understood that written reasons must include concerns in relation to the specific criteria for tenure provided for within the Agreement.
