Unit Members definition

Unit Members or “Certificated Unit Member(s)” refers to any Unit Member who is included in the Certificated Unit described in Article II-B above, and therefore, covered by the terms and provisions of this Agreement.

Unit members shall be entitled to eight (8) hours of sick leave for illness or injury for 23 every one hundred and seventy-four (174) hours of paid employment with the maximum 24 allocation being ninety-six (96) hours per fiscal year for twelve (12) month employees.
Unit members who are employed five (5) or more hours daily shall be entitled to an 22 uninterrupted lunch period without pay and two (2) paid rest periods of fifteen (15) minutes each.
Unit members on paid leave, except those on sabbatical or industrial accident or illness shall accumulate sick leave benefits in accordance with this Article.
Unit members who are assigned to provide specialized physical health care service to a student(s) 14 with exceptional needs shall be provided with the specialized training necessary.

The Union recognizes the City Manager, his/her designee and/or the City’s Employee Relations Officer, as the exclusive representatives of the City for purposes of entering into this MOU. The City and the Union agree to make a good faith effort to ensure that all rules, policies and procedures are uniformly and consistently applied throughout the City service.

Unit Members with an assignment less than 50% FTE: Unit members who are actively enrolled in 2 a Covered California Qualified High Deductible Health Plan as certified by the District shall receive 3 a District contribution of $500 per contract year into a District certified Health Savings Account. 4 Eligible unit members must meet all criteria and follow all procedures required by the District to 5 receive this benefit. The use of funds in the unit member’s Health Savings Account are subject to 6 all current laws and regulations compliance with which is the responsibility of the unit member.
