Common use of Full-Time & Part-time complement Clause in Contracts

Full-Time & Part-time complement. (a) It is agreed and recognized by both the Union and the Employer that the business of the Employer is subject to fluctuations according to the day of the week or month, and time of day, resulting in business peaks, for this reason, it is necessary to employ both regular employees referred to as full-time employees and part-time employees. (i) A full-time employee shall be an employee who is normally scheduled to work forty (40) hours per week. In view of its responsibilities to its full-time employees, the Employer agrees that they shall receive preference in the matter of available employment and continuity of employment, over part-time employees, eight (8) daily hours of work or ten (10) hours when applicable and or forty (40) weekly hours of work. (ii) A part-time employee covered by Appendix “A” of this Agreement shall be an employee who is normally scheduled to work twenty- eight (28) hours or less per week. The conditions of work for part-time employees shall be governed by Appendix “A” of this Agreement.
