GENERAL PURPOSE OF AGREEMENT. 1.1 The parties acknowledge that the California energy market is now deregulated, and one of the objectives of this Agreement is competitive operation in this new market. The general purpose of this Agreement is to set forth the hours of work, rates of pay, and conditions to be observed by the Company, Union, and employees and to provide orderly and harmonious procedures between the Company, Union, and employees. It is the further purpose of the Agreement to prevent interruption of work and to promote the efficient operation of business.
