Granting Voluntary Low Census.  If the Medical Center attempts and is unable to contact the employee in accordance with the time periods above prior to the start of work, the employee will be granted and must take a voluntary low census when reporting to work unless another employee on that unit/department volunteers. Neither employee will be granted inconvenience pay in this case.  If the Medical Center attempts to contact the employee with less than the time periods provided above, but is unsuccessful, the employee must take the voluntary low census if no other employee volunteers on that unit/department. In this case, either employee would receive two (2) hours inconvenience pay.  If the Medical Center contacts the employee prior to reporting for work, the employee may withdraw the request for the voluntary low census. However, if the employee accepts the voluntary low census, the employee is not eligible for the inconvenience pay. It shall be the responsibility of the employee to maintain a current telephone number. Failure to do so shall excuse the Medical Center from the notification requirements provided herein.
