Common use of Hiring New or Additional Employees Clause in Contracts

Hiring New or Additional Employees. When new or additional employees are required, the Employer may notify the Union of the number and classification of employees needed and the Union shall have twenty-four (24) hours to refer qualified applicants for the vacancies to be filled. Selection by the Union of applicants for referral to jobs shall be on a nondiscriminatory basis and shall not be based on, or in any way affected by, nonmembership in the Union, Union membership, Bylaws, rules, regulations, constitutional provisions or any other aspect or obligation of Union membership, policies or rules. The Employer reserves the right to reject any job applicant referred by the Union and said rejection shall not be subject to the grievance and arbitration provisions provided for herein. If the Union is unable to refer applicants satisfactory to the Employer within the time limits specified above, the Employer may hire from any and all outside sources.
