Hourly-Paid and Casual Employees. a) An employee on an unauthorized absence from work on a regularly scheduled work day immediately prior or immediately following a paid holiday shall not be entitled to pay for the holiday. b) Employees shall be given an entitlement for public holidays based on the average daily wage. The average daily wage is 5% of an employee’s wages, vacation pay and general holiday pay earned in the twenty-eight (28) days leading up to the general holiday. Overtime is not included in average daily wage calculation.
