Inappropriate Use. The following are examples of inappropriate charges that may result in cancellation of the state travel card: • Meals or tips while on business in headquarters or residence city, • Alcoholic beverages, • A long-distance personal call from the traveler's headquarters, • Airfare to go to an amusement park, • Renting a video for personal viewing unless rented from a hotel and billed as part of the lodging expense, and • Tips for a bellhop to carry bags. HHS agencies assume no liability for any charges made on any state travel charge card, and use normal voucher procedures to reimburse expenses. To avoid delinquency, the traveler must pay the travel charge card bill upon receipt of the statement and without regard of the travel reimbursement status.
