Incremental silviculture history Sample Clauses

Incremental silviculture history. The TSR II AAC determination assumed that current incremental silviculture activity includes basic silviculture. The socio-economic analysis (Xxxxxxxx, 2001) described basic silviculture in the Okanagan TSA to include surveys, site preparation, planting, brushing cone collecting and some spacing. There is currently some intensive silviculture being carried out that includes spacing, fertilizing and pruning (Xxxxxxxx, 2001). Managed stand yields are predicted based on an initial stems estimate of 1,400 per ha. This assumption should be revisited to ensure that yield curve assumptions matching actual stocking levels. The forest cover inventory indicates about 60,000 ha of stands not-sufficiently regenerated (NSR) in the TSA. The analyses undertaken for this project assume that it is all regenerated in the first decade. Although implementation of the Silviculture Strategy should address NSR and ensure that all areas are treated, operational experience suggests that areas in the TSA that are identified as NSR are usually mislabeled or uneconomical to treat. Silviculture survey programs, as part of standard management practice, are used to report plantation status and identify needs for program planning. This continuing activity is a necessary component of a silviculture program.
