Common use of Information on Contracting Out Clause in Contracts

Information on Contracting Out. (a) In January of each year, after the adoption of the provisional budget, the District shall provide the Union with details of work expected to be contracted during the year. The Union may, at its option, meet with District representatives to review specified items in detail, discuss the reasons for the selected method of service delivery, discuss the financial and operational considerations, and consider more effective alternatives to contracting out - including possible Collective Agreement amendments. (b) During the year, the District shall advise the Union of any intention to contract out any functions normally done by members of the Bargaining Unit with the aim to allow the Union input. The Union may, at its option, meet with District representatives to review the proposed contracting out, in detail, discuss the reasons for the selected method of service delivery, discuss the financial and operational considerations, and consider more effective alternatives to contracting out - including possible Collective Agreement amendments. (c) This process is not intended to interfere with or delay District work but to provide a forum for open communications and exploring alternate proposals.
