Integration with RRSP. The benefits payable from this plan are in addition to retirement benefits you may receive from other sources. However, the amount you can contribute to your personal Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) is affected by your participation in the Company Defined Benefit (DB) pension plan. Starting in 1991 the Company will report a "pension adjustment" (PA) on your T4 slip each year. This PA is an amount that is based on the pension that is deemed earned in the plan during the year; it is calculated according to a complex formula by steps described in the Income Tax legislation. Your total RRSP contribution limits are inclusive of the PA's deemed under the Company's plan. Also starting in 1991, the Government will assist in calculating your RRSP limits for you and will provide you with this information late each year, based on your T4's and tax return for the year.
