Intermittent FMLA Usage. An employee may take family leave on an intermittent basis because of the birth or placement of a child for adoption or xxxxxx care only if the employer agrees. Intermittent leave to care for a sick family member or the employee’s own serious health condition may be taken when medically necessary, and if such intermittent leave is granted, the City may require the employee to temporarily transfer to an alternate position as defined under federal law.
